What does the Trading Account offer?
The Trading Account offers online and telephone dealing, with shares held electronically on your behalf through our Nominee Service. Your trades are automatically settled with funds either being credited to, or debited from your account.
The Trading Account allows you to trade in international equities on 17 international exchanges. This is in addition to UK equities, bonds & gilts, investment trusts, unit trusts & OEICs and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs).
If you would like to trade internationally or in Securitised Derivatives including covered warrants, you should consider the Trading Plus Account.
How much does it cost?
Online trading is a simple flat fee of £12.50, or just £9.95 online when you trade more than 10 times or more in a quarter.
We do charge an Account Management fee of £10+ VAT per quarter on Trading Accounts that have not traded and have a combined cash and stock valuation of less than £5,000.
Dealing Features
- Price Improvement - we automatically poll a number of market makers to obtain the best price available in the market at the time of trading your shares. This may provide an improved price than the one being quoted by the market.
- Flexible order types - market, limit, fill or kill and stop loss. Limit your potential losses with limit and stop loss orders by stating the price you wish to achieve before trading or specifying an exit point.
- Personal Trading Levels - trade immediately without the need for funds in your account until settlement date (subject to status).
- Extended settlement trading - take a longer look at the market before settling up.

- Stockwatch - create virtual portfolios and keep track of profits or losses you could have made without risking your real money.
US Stocks - Important Documentation
If you wish to invest in US (United States) stocks and shares, you will need to complete a Form W-8BEN before you can trade. Obtaining this documentation ensures that we can give you any appropriate tax relief on income paid to you from US stocks and shares. We will hold this form on our files to confirm that we have given you the correct benefits of any US tax treaties.
