TD Waterhouse

Important Security Message (January 2008)

Have you been asked for your full Username and Password in an email?

A small number of customers have recently received emails claiming to be from TD Waterhouse. The email claims that you need to update your account details by clicking on a link. This link then takes you to a site asking for your full Username and Password.

This is not a TD Waterhouse email - it is a fraudulent attempt to obtain your personal details.

We never ask customers to provide their security details by email, so please ignore and delete any emails that do. We would only ever ask you enter random characters from your Password when you login or phone us.

If you have received such an email, please attach it to a new email and send it to phishing@tdwh.co.uk, before deleting it. If you are worried about the security of your account, please contact our Customer Services Team on 0845 607 6002.

Peace of Mind

Based on our Terms of Service, we guarantee to cover any losses from your online TD Waterhouse account:

  • if the cause is as a result of the negligence, wilful default or fraud of us or our employees, agents, subcontractors or any TD Group company
  • if the fraud or security breach is caused by TD Waterhouse, a TD Group company or one of our agents.

However we cannot be responsible for losses:

  • where you have not taken reasonable care to protect the confidentiality and use of the account and your password or you have acted fraudulently
  • if you have authorised someone else to trade on your account and they cause the fraud or security breach.

Of course, we hope that compensation will never become an issue and we take extensive measures to ensure that our security isn't breached in the first place. This 'Security' section of our website gives detailed information about how we protect your personal information, trades, cash and stockholdings.
