Key Budget Information (June 2010)

  • The current annual ISA investment limit to remain the same for the remainder of the tax year and then increase annually in line with RPI.
  • Simplification of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REIT's) allowing the Trust wider choice of distribution i.e. Stock instead of Cash.
  • End to the existing rules that create an effective obligation to purchase an annuity by age 75 from April 2011.
  • VAT to rise from 17.5% to 20% on 4th January 2011.
  • Capital gains tax for higher rate tax payers to rise to 28% at 12:00am Wednesday 23rd June 2010.
  • Corporation tax will be cut by 1% per year for four years from next year, ultimately bringing it down to 24%.
  • Stamp Duty on equity purchases to remain the same.
  • Income Tax Allowance to rise by £1000 to £7475.
