What is my Personal Trading Level and Available to spend amount?Personal Trading Level
Your personal trading level allows you to purchase shares over the value of the cash and stock held on your account (subject to status). It is based on the cash and stock held on your trading account.
Money held on your savings account does not count towards your Personal Trading Level. However you can move money from your savings into your trading account which will update your trading level instantly.
The personal trading level is not a credit facility. Shares must be paid for on the settlement date of your purchase.
The trading level is also affected by unsettled trades and active limit orders. If your trading level is lower than expected, you should check to see if you have any limit orders set on your account.
Available to Spend
The “Available to spend” figure shown on the place a trade screen is the amount of your personal trading level you can invest into a single stock.
This amount is lower than your personal trading level. The available to spend will be vary for different stocks dependant on a number of factors, including any holding you already have in the stock you are buying.
We have a separate “Available to spend” to reduce risk of over exposure on a trading level in one stock. Should you wish to trade above the available to spend in an individual stock you would need to add funds to your account.
